PRIOR PUBLICATIONS AND MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

Vice President for North America and Director, Washington Office, Panos Institute (1986-1989)
Established the U.S. operations of the London-based Panos Institute, an international information service focused on development issues. This involved developing programs and materials to reach a broad U.S. audience with informative, useable, relevant information about developing countries. Hired and directed staff and outside consultants, including writers, designers, and printers; developed budgets and financial management system.

Director, Washington Office, Earthscan (1983-1986)
Wrote and commissioned articles on international environment and development issues, and developed a seminar program to brief U.S. reporters around the country on environment, conservation, agriculture, and health issues affecting developing countries.

Public Affairs Director, Overseas Development Council (1980-1983)
Wrote the Council's public education materials, translating technical trade, energy, finance, and other studies into popular formats. Developed seminars and briefing materials for journalists, conducted press conferences, and wrote press releases.
